Odd Dog’s Recommendation

It is amazing the minute details that can affect your conversion rates.  Changing the color of a button has been shown to yield conversion rate improvements of 1-3%, while entire website redesigns have sometimes shown better than a 100% increase.  We hate to help clients boost the traffic to their website, just to see them ignore their conversion rates and miss out on a massive amount of potential business.

The most effective method for improving conversion rates is a simple matter of making educated guesses in design changes, measuring their effectiveness, and then guessing again.  With thousands of elements to your website, this could be a very simple process or it can be very complex.  However nobody doubts the fact that conversion rates are very important.

Here is what this service includes:

  • Make a business decision about what we should consider the optimum “conversion”.  (Customer sign-up, fan on Facebook, newsletter signup, etc.)
  • Setup website monitoring & tracking (if necessary)
  • Analyze user behavior of existing website traffic.
  • Identify trends in user behavior that indicate areas for improvement.
  • Recommend design and layout changes to be implemented for testing.
  • Setup A/B testing for measuring the effectiveness of individual elements of your website.
  • Provide reports on our results and how conversion rates have improved as a result of specific changes.
  • Rinse, lather, repeat.

A Little About Conversion Rates

What it is
A “conversion” is counted anytime a website visitor performs an action that we want them to.  It could be signing up for an account, becoming a fan on Facebook, subscribing to your blog, signing up for your newsletter, etc.  We can test different elements of your website and even different marketing campaigns to see what really drives sales.

What it is for
Optimizing your marketing dollars.  If moving the “sign up” button on your website increases your conversions by 10%, that’s free money.  Now your standard marketing efforts will be multiplied by 10%.  It’s a no-brainer.

Why it’s awesome
Possibilities are endless.  There is so much you can change about your website, where you market and what messages you market with that there is a ton of room for improvement.

What’s the catch?
Possibilities are endless.  Companies have been known to be consumed with increasing conversion rates.  While a 0.001% improvement is great for companies that sell on a large scale (such as Amazon.com), for most companies a business decision needs to be made about when these changes are no longer profitable.  We help you keep business goals in mind as we travel down this path.
