SEO vs. PPC

By February 18, 2010Adwords, Blog, SEO

Pay Per Click (PPC) vs. Search Engine Optimization the classic showdown. PPC (the most popular being AdWords) is starting to become an ineffective way for companies to spend their money. Although it still does turn some web searchers into clients, it sure isn’t as useful as it once used to be.

Companies by now should have heard of Search Engine Optimization to help improve traffic more than PPC? PPC is outdated, it intimidates people and typically the PPC links show up on search results for extremely vague search words (eg – Rental Cars). If you really want to make it so your company is keying the right audience that is going to turn web searchers into customers, begin by optimizing for more specific keywords (eg – Boston Rental Cars). Even just an extra word can make all the difference in the world! It brings serious, real potential customers to your website/business which is in the end, exactly what any web-based company really wants. It is an effective search marketing service.

Web-based companies should understand one crucial difference between PPC and SEO. The amount of money spent on PPC in 2008 was $11.9 Billion compared to only $1.4 Billion. You might think “So that’s good money being spent and probably produces some great results for those companies spending that money”. Not really, when you take a look at the distribution of the search clicks, PPC only took 10.5% compared to SEO receiving 89.5%! Astounding, companies might as well be throwing their money away when they buy PPC. SEO is a thing of the future and is the best way for companies who are mainly web based to increase traffic to their website.

The big question is why…

Why has Search Engine Optimization helped improve traffic more than PPC? PPC is outdated, it intimidates people and typically the PPC links show up on search results for extremely vague search words (eg – Rental Cars). If you really want to make it so your company is keying the right audience that is going to turn web searchers into customers, begin by optimizing for more specific keywords (eg – Boston Rental Cars). Even just an extra word can make all the difference in the world! It brings serious, real potential customers to your website/business which is in the end, exactly what any web-based company really wants.

SEO internet marketing companies really get into the nitty gritty of your website. They know all the little tricks that will help boost your business to the top page of search engines on the web. The best part about hiring on SEO internet marketing companies is that their is always something for them to do to keep you at the top. Unlike PPC where you fork out tons of money just to be a link that intimidates people. SEO work helps write interesting content to place on the web that is engaging for readers, basically SEO companies will never stop working for you because it is an ongoing process. There have been articles written by SEO companies years ago, that are still turning traffic to companies websites even TODAY!!!

It all seems like quite an easy process and you might be sitting there thinking “Oh, that’s not so hard, I could do that,” but just like you are an expert in your own field of business SEO companies are experts in theirs and nothing can replace experience!
